Shika’s

M&M Gourmet Cookies

One cookie, made once a week in small batches. Browned butter, a forty‑eight hour rest, flaky salt, and a great many M&M’s.

We make one thing. That is the entire strategy.

Provenance

It began, regrettably, as a joke.

My sister and I posted a video claiming we sold cookies. We did not sell cookies. We had never, at that point, sold a single cookie to anyone.

The orders arrived anyway — from complete strangers. So we spent that weekend browning butter past midnight, cutting parchment at the kitchen table, and sealing kraft bags by hand until our thumbs gave out. Every one went out warm.

We have been doing it that way ever since. Same two sisters, same kitchen, same single recipe — only now the scale is deliberate and the waiting list is real.

A single cookie, crackled across the crown, studded with enamel-bright M&M's and flaked salt
The house cookie — 4½ in.

Composition

Five decisions, made properly.

Butter
Browned until it turns the colour of toffee and smells of hazelnut, then cooled completely so the dough holds its height instead of spreading thin.
The Rest
Forty-eight hours, cold. The single step nobody skips here, and the one that separates a good cookie from the cookie people text about at midnight.
M&M’s
Folded through the dough and set on the crown by hand while warm — so you get both the colour and the melted pockets beneath.
Salt
Flaked sea salt, applied in the ten seconds after the tray leaves the oven, while the surface will still take it.
Finishing
Cooled on parchment, sealed the same day, collected or delivered within twenty‑four hours. Never shipped, never stale.
